Candle Light Service December 29, 2013

The Candle Light Service was held at 6:30pm on Sunday December 29, 2013.
The service featured the reading of Lessons, several musical items by the Choir, Christmas Carols sung by the entire Congregation and the lighting of the Candles. The service started with a Procession to the front consisting of the Choir, Readers, Candle Lighters and ended with a Procession up to the Portsmouth Hospital where more Carols were sung and the closing prayer delivered by the Reverend William Watty.

Due to technical difficulties I am not able to upload all the raw video clips but here are a few. A few photos are also included.

Mount Wallis Methodist Church Hosts the State Funeral of Former President Vernon Shaw

The New Chapel of the Mount Wallis Methodist Church was first used for the State Funeral of President Shaw on Saturday December 14, 2013.
Over the years, work has been ongoing on the new Chapel but when it was decided that Mount Wallis would host this Funeral, great things were accomplished.  Some pics have already been posted on the Facebook page but I will post a few in case you did not see them. Here they are:

End results: Photo taken the day prior to the Funeral
Not only was work done to the Chapel and the Church Grounds but work was also done on the streets:

Funeral Service of Former President Vernon Shaw
Saturday December 14, 2013 in Photos

President Shaw's Funeral was truly a celebration of life. It reminded me of the true spirit of Methodism I have known growing up. The service was filled with the singing of hymns, prayers and the delivery of powerful words not only through the Sermon but also in the poem read. The processing itself to the Cemetery was beautiful. One could observe Officers in clean, pressed uniforms marching to the music of the Government Band. The onlookers themselves could be observed watching in amazement to a procession that they do not often have the privilege to see.
Photos from the procession are below:
